whim terms of service

Effective date: July 9, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Tucker McKay, the operator of whim (“whim,” “we”). By creating an account or using whim, you agree to them. Questions: support@whimai.app.

The service

whim is an iOS app that turns photos of your clothing into an illustrated closet and suggests outfits from it — including daily looks styled to your occasion and local weather, an illustrated avatar, and rendered previews of you wearing your own clothes. whim requires an iPhone running iOS 26.5 or later.

Your account

You sign in with your Apple account. Keep your device secure; activity under your login is your responsibility. You must be at least 13 to use whim, and if you're under 18 you need a parent or guardian's permission.

Your content

You own the photos you bring to whim. So the app can work, you grant whim the rights needed to receive, store, process, and transform your photos and details into the service's outputs — cutouts, illustrated cards, your avatar, outfit suggestions, and renders — for you. Only upload photos you have the right to use. We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these terms.

Generated content and styling suggestions

whim's cards, avatar, and renders are stylized illustrations created by AI for your personal use, and outfit suggestions are automated recommendations for inspiration. Illustrations approximate your garments and appearance rather than reproducing them exactly, and suggestions carry no guarantee of accuracy or fit for any dress code, event, or weather — the final call on what to wear is always yours.

Subscriptions and the free tier

whim Pro costs $9.99 per month or $59.99 per year, billed through your Apple account. New subscribers get a 7-day free trial; you can cancel during the trial at no charge. Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and you can manage or cancel anytime in your device's Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions. Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's policies. Prices may change; Apple will notify you before any change affects you, per its standard process.

whim's free tier includes a limited closet size, one styled look-book, and limited daily rendering. Free-tier features and limits may change as whim evolves.

Acceptable use

Use whim lawfully and as intended. You agree not to upload unlawful, infringing, or harmful images; not to probe, overload, or interfere with whim's systems; not to attempt to bypass subscription gates or usage limits; and not to reverse engineer, scrape, or resell the service.

Ending things

You can stop using whim and delete your account anytime in Settings → Data & privacy → Delete my account, which permanently erases your data as described in the privacy policy. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. Canceling billing happens separately through Apple's subscription settings.

Disclaimers

whim is provided as is and as available. We work hard to keep it reliable, and we make no warranty that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any suggestion or illustration will meet your expectations.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, whim's total liability for any claims relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid for whim in the 12 months before the claim, and whim is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Some places don't allow certain limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change in a meaningful way, we'll post the updated version here with a new effective date, and for significant changes we'll note it in the app. Using whim after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
